I hate when people laugh at me. How am I supposed to know everything? I thought Richard had actually been stuck in a place called the Doldrums. “Haha,” laughed Richard. “I only meant I felt a bit stuck, like a ship really stuck in the Doldrums.” Then my dad told me that this saying comes from a place near the equator when there sometimes isn’t wind. Sailing ships just drift around, like a someone who can’t get going in the very hot weather for example, and doesn’t even feel like cooking. Dad and Richard thought I was sooo cute. UGH. At least Beatrice Strawberry Bird didn’t join in the laughing. And then we went out to supper and I had ice-cream, and at least now I know what the Doldrums are.
